TITLE: Public Safety Officer

SUMMARY:
Maintain the safety and security of campus employees, students, and facilities. The Public Safety Officer position is vital position for the everyday operations for UHA Public Safety. It is a 24/7 operation broken down into 3 shifts. Positions included but are not limited to walking posts, vehicle posts and static posts.
TROY CAMPUS
- Full Time/Part Time
- Work Hours:
- Day Shift: 8:00am – 4:00pm
- Evening Shift: 4:00pm – Midnight
- Night Shift: Midnight – 8:ooam
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Patrol campus and perimeter on foot, bicycle and by motor vehicle while maintaining radio contact with campus security dispatcher.
- Enforce College regulations and correct parking conditions
- Remove safety hazards
- Maintain security of all buildings and members of campus community
- Inspect assigned buildings on each tour for conditions of door locks, fire exit signs, and windows
- Inspect all exterior and security lighting and checks for illegal entry on all night tours
- Respond to calls and participate in investigations of incidents as needed
- Provides comprehensive notes and summaries to the Computerized Incident Reporting System,
- Conducts resident alarm checks and fire drills during semester
- Provide security escort for students, staff, and faculty to and from campus buildings
- Answer calls when assigned dispatch duty
- Issue parking tickets
- Direct patrons to appropriate parking during special events
- Provide access to locked facilities on campus
- Maintain constant communication with the Security Dispatcher while on duty
- Follows established college policies and procedures, including the timely use of email to routinely communicate with supervisor and others as required, time reporting procedures, and equipment check in/check out during shift.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High School graduate/or GED required
- A valid NYS Security Guard license is required at the time of hire
- Ability to walk extensively across multiple areas of campus up to 5 miles/day, as well as standing for long periods of time is required.
- Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, lifts, as well as occasionally reach, stoop, crouch, sit, and kneel.
- A valid NYS driver's license, with no more than 2 moving violation convictions and/or accidents within the past 40 months required.
- Six months previous experience in a security enforcement position preferred
- First Aid/ CPR /AED certification is preferred.
- Ability to interact in a service oriented and professional manner with members of the campus community and general public.
- Must have a reliable way to work.
- Strong knowledge of the local roadways throughout the immediate areas surrounding the campuses.
- Strong communication skills.

TITLE: Dispatcher
SUMMARY:
Maintain the safety and security of campus employees, students, and facilities. The Public Safety Dispatch position is a backbone of the everyday operations for UHA Public Safety. In is a 24/7 operation broken down into 3 shifts.
- Work Hours:
- Day Shift: 7:00am – 3:00pm
- Evening Shift: 3:00pm – 11:00pm
- Night Shift: 11:00pm – 7:00pm
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The public safety dispatcher fulfills a critical role in the Department of Public Safety. He/She serves as a link between the SAGE/ACPHS/Law School community and its Public Safety Officers, as well as other agencies of Public Safety. Duties include, but are not limited to
- Answering both emergency and non-emergency telephone lines in the dispatch center
- Communicating by radio with officers in the field
- Communicating with appropriate Public Safety agencies such as PD, Fire, and EMS
- Maintenance of an accurate dispatch log
- Monitoring various alarms and alarm systems which communicate with the dispatch center
- Monitoring CCTV systems
- Utilize the Telecorder call and radio recording software
- Utilize the Colleague system
- Managing record keeping systems within the Department of Public Safety
- Providing accurate and timely information when requested
- Making appropriate referrals when requested
- Perform any other duties as instructed

TITLE: Shuttle Van Driver
Summary
The Shuttle Van Driver position plays an integral role in the everyday operations of the Sage Colleges. Having the ability to safely and comfortably transport students from one campus to the other (Troy, Albany) on a timely basis offers exceptional opportunity for our college community members to excel. We are presently seeking a qualified candidate to fill a part time role within our shuttle program.
Work Hours: 2:00pm- 10:00pm Monday thru Friday (August 20th - May 31st/yr)
Responsibilities and Duties
- Safely operate the Sage College Shuttle Van, transporting students/faculty between Russell Sage College (Troy) and Sage College of Albany (Albany) as well as to other local locations such as malls and transportation hubs as scheduled by the College.
- Maintain on-schedule shuttle operation as dictated by the Sage Shuttle Schedule
- Record and maintain information related to the vehicles operational status, refueling
- Conduct basic vehicular operational functions to include inspections, refueling, and minor maintenance
- Obey all NYS vehicle and traffic laws and operate vehicle in a safe and responsible manner
- Operate the University Heights Department of Public Safety radio
Qualifications and Skills
- Possess a current/valid NYS drivers license
- Have a clean driving record
- Strong knowledge of local roadways throughout the immediate areas surrounding the campuses
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Comfortable working in an eclectic and highly diverse campus setting
- Become certified by the University Heights Public Safety Department Training Officer
