ALBANY, N.Y., April 17, 2006 — Jerome Chao, M.D., has joined the division of plastic surgery at Albany Medical Center as associate program director of plastic surgery and director of plastic surgery trauma. Dr. Chao had been an attending physician for Albany Plastic Surgeons, and thus has performed many surgeries at the Medical Center. He also has been an assistant professor of surgery at Albany Medical College and will continue in that role.
Dr. Chao graduated Magna Cum Laude from Harvard in 1990. He received his medical degree from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University and completed a residency at McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University in Chicago. He was a fellow in orthopedic hand surgery at The New York Orthopaedic Hospital of Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center.
He brings a broad range of specialties to the division, including aesthetic surgery, breast reconstruction, burn management and reconstruction, hand surgery, microsurgery, mole, cyst and skin cancer surgery, pediatric plastic surgery, reconstruction after cancer surgery or trauma, repair of lacerations and torn earlobes, and peripheral nerve surgery including brachial plexus.
Dr. Chao and his wife Katie have two children and reside in Niskayuna.
