Albany, N.Y., January 23, 2006—Officials at Albany Medical Center have announced the appointment of Fardin Sanai as senior vice president for development at Albany Med. As such, he is responsible for overseeing the fundraising efforts of the Albany Medical Center Foundation, Inc. Sanai succeeds David Buran, who recently announced his retirement.
“We are fortunate to have found an individual of Fardin’s caliber to lead the Medical Center’s fundraising efforts on the heels of the highly successful Pillars Campaign,” said James J. Barba, chairman of the Board of Directors and president and chief executive officer of the Albany Medical Center. “Fardin’s previous experience and demonstrated leadership will be crucial to our continued success.”
Sanai recently served as vice president for institutional advancement and college foundation executive director at the State University of New York College at Cobleskill (SUNY Cobleskill), where he is credited for successfully leading the College’s first capital campaign, which raised an unprecedented $4 million for the College.
Earlier in his career, Sanai served as director of institutional affairs at the Albany Law School. He has also served as campaign director for the Albany Institute of History and Art, and as counsel and program director for Morin and Anderson, Inc. of Albany. Sanai holds a bachelor’s degree in integrative studies from Marist College. He and his wife reside in Albany.
The Pillars Campaign, which ended Dec. 31, 2004 and raised $131.6 million over the past five years, was the most successful fundraising campaign ever conducted by a healthcare entity in northeastern New York. - 30 -
