ALBANY, N.Y., August 15, 2005 — Ashok A. Koul, M.D., has been appointed an assistant professor of cardiology at Albany Medical Center. Dr. Koul is specially trained in cardiac electrophysiology — the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm problems such as arrhythmias and atrial fibrillation.
Dr. Koul recently served as an electrophysiologist at Methodist Hospital and Baptist Hospital East in Memphis, Tennessee. Previously Dr. Koul served as a hospitalist covering the medical and cardiology floors at Maimonidies Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Dr. Koul completed fellowships in cardiac electrophysiology at Yale University School of Medicine and the University of Maryland in Baltimore. He also completed a fellowship in cardiology and a residency in internal medicine at Maimonidies. He received his medical degree from the Government Medical College in Srinagar, India.
Dr. Koul is board certified in cardiac electrophysiology, cardiovascular diseases and internal medicine.
He currently resides in Delmar with his wife Anita and their son, Arnav.
