ALBANY, N.Y., February 21, 2005 – A free seminar on colorectal cancer will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 1 in the Albany Medical Center’s Huyck Auditorium.
Brian Valerian, M.D., assistant professor of medicine, will discuss screening options; Seth Richter, M.D., assistant professor of medicine, will discuss surgery options; Janet Gargiulo, M.D., clinical assistant professor of medicine, will talk about genetics; and Joyce Bagyi, M.S., R.D., C.D.N., clinical dietician, will talk about how nutrition can help prevent cancer.
Approximately 150,000 people will be diagnosed with colorectal cancer this year. An estimated 50,000 will die.
