ALBANY, N.Y., January 5, 2004 – Four area business leaders were recently appointed to serve on the Albany Medical Center Foundation Board of Directors. They are Darryl Adams, operations manager for Verizon; Jim Healy, global communications manager for General Electric Global Research; Anders Tomson, vice president and regional director for The Community Preservation Corporation; and Levon Bedrosian, M.D., retired medical director of Albany Med’s South Clinical Campus.
“The Medical Center is fortunate to have attracted these four dedicated community leaders to support our Foundation’s mission of enhancing the quality of life for residents of the Capital Region through improvements in patient care, biomedical research and medical education,” said Jim Howe, chair of the Foundation’s Board of Directors. “Each possesses unique skills and experiences to assist us in fulfilling that mission.”
As operations manager for Verizon, Adams is responsible for managing all maintenance and installation operations for northeast New York. He resides in Rensselaer.
Healy is responsible for media and community relations and marketing communications for GE’s centralized research organization with sites in China, India and Germany. He resides in Niskayuna.
Tomson, of Delmar, is vice president and regional director for The Community Preservation Corporation, a not-for-profit mortgage lender which finances low and moderate income housing in New York and New Jersey.
Bedrosian practiced as a private physician affiliated with Albany Med for 39 years and retired from his post as medical director of Albany Med’s South Clinical Campus in 2001. He resides in Delmar.
The mission of the Albany Medical Center Foundation is to encourage regional and national philanthropy in support of the mission and ambitions of the Albany Medical Center. The Foundation is currently working to achieve the goals of the Albany Medical Center’s “Pillars Campaign,” the largest fundraising campaign ever launched by a health care organization in the Capital Region. The effort seeks to raise $125 million in gifts and commitments by Dec. 31, 2004.
